Martin Hurls No-Hitter Against Goldeyes Friday, August 19th , 2050 It was a fantastic day for Southern Maryland Blue Crabs starter Xavier Martin and a lousy day for the Winnipeg Goldeyes. The Southern Maryland hurler's pitching artistry completely befuddled and bewildered the Goldeyes, as the Blue Crabs cruised to a 8-0 win. When it was all over, Martin was credited with one of the rarer feats in baseball -- a no-hitter. "The ball was moving and darting, and best of all, going where I wanted it to go," Martin said later. He rang up 11 strikeouts and allowed no walks while shutting Winnipeg down at The Aquarium. For this year Martin has chalked up 6 wins and 7 losses in 18 starts with 137 strikeouts in 111.2 innings and a 2.42 ERA. |
