Costodio Varino, the Fresno Grizzlies 24-year-old first baseman, put himself in the spotlight last week making him the clear-cut choice for American League Player of the Week honors. He ripped 9 hits in 22 at-bats, compiling a .409 average with 4 home runs and 10 RBIs. Varino is currently batting .257 with 18 home runs and 58 RBIs. |
