Red Wings Thompson Suspended Tuesday, August 30th , 2050 The league commissioner has zero tolerance when it comes to touching an umpire. That's the reason Ian Thompson of the Red Wings has been given a 3-game suspension. He apparently made too much contact with the home plate umpire while intensely questioning a called strike in a recent game at Frontier Field with the Norfolk Tides. Thompson said he would not appeal and would serve his suspension beginning today. Hitting .222 to date, Thompson has 5 home runs and 26 RBIs. He has played in 117 games. |
