Boniface Hurls No-Hitter Against Crimson Tide Saturday, October 16th , 2049 The University of Minnesota Golden Gophers had a lot to celebrate today as 19-year-old hurler Phil Boniface no-hit the University of Alabama Crimson Tide at U.S. Bank Stadium today. In an impressive outing that keyed the Golden Gophers to a 8-0 victory, Boniface had 11 strikeouts and surrendered no walks. "He mixed his pitches well and hit his spots, plus he got a little help from above," said University of Minnesota manager Trevor Bayless. "Phil really took it to another level today." Presently Boniface has a 1-1 mark in 9 starts with a 1.69 ERA. He has given up 34 hits in 53.1 innings, struck out 57 and issued 9 walks. Opposing clubs have compiled a .181 batting average against him. |
