Boncek Blanks Americus, 5-0 Sunday, August 8th , 2049 Jarrod Boncek hurled a fine game for the Calgary Flames at Flames Stadium today, holding the Americus Braves to 3 hits in a shutout win. "When he started out, his command wasn't that good, but he's a tough guy," Calgary manager Johnny Cueto said. "The more pitches he throws, the better his command is." The right-hander had 10 strikeouts and 2 walks in the 5-0 victory. "An outstanding job," Americus manager Jaime Krempa said. "We couldn't get anything going. Every time we got a hit, he got out of the jam. He pitched a terrific game." Boncek has earned no saves and a 6-2 mark this season with a 2.17 earned run average in 4 relief appearances. He has worked 66.1 innings, yielded 45 hits, struck out 76 batters and walked 23. |
