					| | Mattis Rockets 3 HR Against Great Falls Monday, October 18th , 2049
Bluefield Blue Jays reliever Bryan Mattis almost did it all today. He sent three shots out of the ballpark, scored 3 times and drove in 3 runs and had 3 hits in 3 at-bats.

The one thing he could not do, however, was lead the Blue Jays to victory. The Great Falls Voyagers escaped with the 17-16 win by the Great Falls despite being on the receiving end of the barrage from Mattis.

"I'd be lying if I said I didn't like hitting three homers, but losing takes a little glitter off the game," he admitted to BNN writers after the game.

Bryan Mattis walked in the 2nd, walked in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Don Stanford in the 6th, walked in the 7th, hit a solo-shot off Mike Brungardt in the 8th and hit a solo-shot off Dave Fairn in the 9th.

"When someone hits three home runs, you put yourself in a tough position to win," said Bluefield manager Timo Lantinga. "We were lucky to win this one. I don't think it matters how hard you throw, especially in the American League. If you leave a ball out over the plate to good Appalachian League hitters, if they get a bead on you and you leave it over the middle, they're probably going to take a good hack at it."
