Lugnuts Prevail, as Conference Championship Goes to the Wire Sunday, October 31st , 2049 The Conference Championship went the distance before it all was said and done. The Lansing Lugnuts and the Hickory Crawdads went at it tooth-and-nail and when it was over at L.P. Frans Stadium, the winner was the Lugnuts. They put away Hickory 2-1 to cinch the series and won the right to move onto the World Series. For his fine play, even in a losing effort, Hickory right fielder Roberto Rodriguez was given the series Most Valuable Player Award. He hit .417, scored 6 runs and batted in 6 to win the honor. "It's nice that someone noticed my numbers, but I'd trade it in a heartbeat for a win," he said. The World Series matchups and schedule will be announced after the Conference Championship finishes. |
