Birmingham Shut Out by Villanueva Sunday, September 5th , 2049 Gil Villanueva was dynamite at Regions Field today, blowing away the Birmingham Barons in a shutout victory. The Midland RockHounds starter had everything working as he held the Barons to 5 hits in the 4-0 win. "He was pure nasty out there today," said Birmingham skipper Lewis Brinson. "I don't think any team in the league would've had a chance against what he was bringing." Villanueva finished the game with 7 strikeouts and 3 walks. This year Villanueva has a 9-11 mark in 29 starts with a 3.86 ERA. He has given up 181 hits in 179.2 innings, struck out 138 and issued 51 walks. Opposing clubs have compiled a .264 batting average against him. |
