Guardians Deal Red Sox 4-1 Loss
|
The Cleveland Guardians and Boston Red Sox completed their game despite the inclement weather.
Cleveland starter Risto Pandev put a stranglehold on the Boston offense. The right-hander had complete command of his knuckleball in leading the Guardians to a 4-1 win. Pandev, the winner, moves to 2-3. He threw 6.1 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 5 and giving up 3 walks. Chris Cohen got credit for the save for Cleveland. It was his 5th of the year.
Cleveland used a well-timed hit by Nick Ogle to capture the win. The right fielder socked a 2-run double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Guardians ahead, 3-1. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Ogle. "And not try to do too much."
Cleveland is off to a sluggish start, getting just their 8th win in 28 games.
