Miami Marlins starter Matt Payne was in a groove as he led his team to a win over the San Francisco Giants, 3-2. Oscar Banda got credit for the save for Miami. It was his 6th of the year. The loss puts San Francisco at 14-11.

Miami used the timely hitting of Mike Gar to capture the win. The first baseman socked a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Marlins ahead, 3-0. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a big one.

"It's nice to come out on top today," said Payne.
