The Cincinnati Reds defeated the Chicago Cubs, 6-3, at Wrigley Field. Cincinnati pitcher Joseph Kirchmann had a superb performance. He threw 7.1 innings of 6-hit ball. Kirchmann went 7.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 2, and struck out 7. His record improves to 4-0. Ryan Terlizzi converted his 39th save in 46 tries.

Cincinnati took a 5-1 lead on Saulo Maina's 34th home run of the season. The 2-run home run came off Chicago pitcher Randy Budgell in the top of the seventh.

"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Kirchmann.

The Reds are now 77-83, while the Cubs fall to 67-93.
