The Kansas City Royals defeated the Houston Astros, 4-1, in American League action at Minute Maid Park. Kansas City pitcher Bryan Boykin had a standout performance. Picking up the save was Joe Noonan, his 29th. Houston has now lost 6 in a row.

Matt Belgard, the top prospect , had a direct impact on the outcome. Belgard contributed a solo home run in the top of the fifth inning to put Kansas City up, 2-1.
