					| The Atlanta Braves topped the Washington Nationals, 3-1, in National League action at Nationals Park. The game was highlighted by the performance of Atlanta pitcher Curt Stevens. The Braves, at 101-52, have a comfortable 29½-game lead in their division. 
 The Braves had to work out of trouble in the bottom of the ninth. The score was 3-1, Atlanta, with no one out. Washington, with the bases empty, was mounting a threat. Bob Melley dug in at the plate, but on a 0-2 changeup, he struck out.
