					| Pirates Beat Cardinals, 7-4 |
					| Pittsburgh Pirates starter Stan Stirnweiss was in a groove as he led his team to a win over the St. Louis Cardinals, 7-4. The winning pitcher was Stirnweiss, now 15-12. He tossed 8 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 7. Jeremy Kennie picked up the save for Pittsburgh, his 34th of the year.
The Pirates got an important contribution from catcher Brad Day, who in the bottom of the third knocked a 0-1 sinker into right for a bases-clearing double. It was his 21st double of the season and put the Pirates ahead, 7-0.

"Stan made his pitches," said Pittsburgh manager Sam Mcg Pittsburgh.

Pittsburgh now has a record of 93-60 with the win.
