					| Getting a good performance from shortstop Quincy Bradford, the Oakland Athletics defeated the Seattle Mariners, 8-4. Bradford went 2 for 4 with a home run, a double,  and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4 for the Athletics. The Athletics, at 75-70, sit in second place in the American League West Division. 
 Oakland relied on the bat of Tom Butterbaugh to get the win. The third baseman ripped a 2-run  home run in the top of the second inning to put the Athletics ahead, 2-0. For the game, Butterbaugh had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.
 
 "I like to lead by example," said Butterbaugh. "I'm glad I could contribute to a good win."
