					| Shrewsbury, Athletics Wallop Mariners, 11-1 |
					| The Oakland Athletics beat the Seattle Mariners by a score of 11-1. Oakland second baseman Randy Shrewsbury deserved the lion's share of the credit. Shrewsbury belted 2 home runs. He drove in 6 runs and scored twice for the Athletics. At 72-67, the Athletics claim second place in the American League West Division.
With Oakland leading 2-0 in the bottom of the third, Shrewsbury came up to bat against Seattle pitcher Aidan Smith. Shrewsbury hit a cutter to left for a grand slam home run. His 31st home run of the season put the Athletics on top, 6-0.

"We took it on the chin today," said losing manager Aaron Schiff.
