					| Royals Need Extra Frames to Get Past Athletics |
					| Jorge Severiano did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Oakland Athletics from losing, 10-8, to the Kansas City Royals at O.co Coliseum. Severiano went 1 for 2 with a home run and 4 walks. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. After today's action, Kansas City sits at 74-61; Oakland slips to 70-65.
The result might have been different, had it not been for Roman Downey, the Kansas City right fielder. Downey had a run-scoring single in the top of the 13th inning to put the Royals ahead, 9-8. For the game, Downey had 1 double and 1 single in 6 at-bats.

"We took advantage of our opportunities," Downey told the Kansas City News. "It's as simple as that."
