Washington Nationals starter Kerry Baty turned in a top-notch performance against the Pittsburgh Pirates at PNC Park. The result was a win for the Nationals, 4-2. The save went to David Sly, number 28 for him. Washington is now 55-72.

Tommy Baird, the 36-year old center fielder , had a direct impact on the outcome. Baird contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the ninth inning to put Washington up, 4-2.

"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Washington manager Mike Shore. "It's usually not just one thing."
