California beat Texas on the strength of starter Jeff Baker's fine effort. The left-hander led his team to a win, 5-2. The win belongs to Bryan Banana in relief. His record improves to 4-2. Mike Webb took the loss for Texas. The triumph puts California at 71-56 for the season.

Micah Miller, the 29-year old right fielder , had a direct impact on the outcome. Miller contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the eighth inning to put California up, 3-2.

"I've been criticized for being a slacker, but the one thing I do care about is winning," Miller told the California Times.
