Miami got a terrific game from third baseman Willie Chavez. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Chicago, 5-4. Chavez went 2 for 5 with a home run and a double. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Chicago pitcher Chris Perretta got the win. He's now 1-1. Kwang-sik Kim was tagged with the loss. Chicago has a record of 50-68, placing them last in the National League Central Division.

The Cubs relied on right fielder Kevin Norton for the game-winning hit. And, in the bottom of the 11th, he delivered, hitting a run-scoring single to seal the deal.

"That's a solid team effort right there," said Norton. "Everyone's feeling positive after that win."
