4-3 Loss Extends Colorado Skid
The Houston Astros did just enough to sneak past the Colorado Rockies, 4-3, at Minute Maid Park. Houston pitcher Brian Lynch, in particular, had a standout performance. Josh Sandoval collected save number 11. The Rockies, at 57-58, have lost 7 in a row.

The Rockies had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Astros going into the bottom of the second inning. That changed quickly when the slick-fielding third baseman Eric Chotkowski came to the plate. Chotkowski hit a 3-run home run on a 0-2 changeup from Colorado hurler Gabe Stokes. It was Chotkowski's 13th home run of the year.

Colorado manager Joshua J said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
