Everything was working for Andy Darnell today at Area 51. He had the perfect delivery. The ball was moving. The fastball was working.

In an unforgettable performance, the 20-year-old Darnell fanned 19 Nationals and sparked the Roswell Invaders to a 10-1 victory over Palm Beach. He left Nationals hitters mumbling and muttering at the plate. And when he needed a strikeout, he got it.

"I don't know if there are many times that I've seen him throw better," said Roswell manager Luis Balderas. "His location and command were really something."

In addition to collecting 19 strikeouts over 8 innings, Darnell allowed 4 hits and 3 walks in a superlative outing.

"I thought I'd make it easy on the guys today," Darnell said with a smile.

This year Darnell has chalked up a 3.42 ERA with no saves. In 3 relief appearances he has put up a 5-6 won-lost mark and struck out 145 batters in 94.2 innings.
