Roux Slugs Cardinals to 4-2 Win
|
The exploits of second baseman Antoine Roux, who finished 5th in the NL in runs with 124 in 2041, helped the St. Louis Cardinals defeat the Miami Marlins, 4-2. Roux went 3-4 with 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. St. Louis, at 49-53, occupies second place in the National League Central Division.
Roux contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for St. Louis in the bottom of the fourth. With his team trailing 1-0, Roux took a sinker from Mike Torres and stroked the home run to right. His 18th home run of the season allowed the Cardinals to leap in front, 2-1.
"We'll pop the top on a cold beverage and get back to work tomorrow," Roux said.
