Before the game, Mamadou Morand said he liked his chances. His instincts proved to be right. In a superb outing at Denver Stadium, the Invaders pitcher whitewashed the Colorado Avalanche 6-0.
"I just had a feeling it was going to be my day," Morand said in the clubhouse afterward. "My control was awesome. I could throw my slider even when I was behind in the count."
The Roswell starter held Colorado scoreless, giving up 1 hit while registering 14 strikeouts and issuing no walks.
"We didn't have very many good at-bats," Avalanche manager Norman Veldwijk said in a postgame interview. "When that happens, you usually lose."
Over the season, Morand has made 3 relief appearances with 1 save. He has K'd 46 batters in 32.1 innings, yielded 3 walks and has a 0.84 ERA. Morand's record this year is 2-2.
