Behind an impressive start by Matt Payne, Miami beat New York, 4-0. In 6.2 innings, Payne surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 9 and walking 3. He allowed no runs. With the win, the Marlins improved to 39-48.

The game could have flipped with one out in the top of the fifth. But Matt Payne made what his manager later called "an A-plus pitch." With runners on 1st and 2nd and New York trailing 3-0, Payne threw a fastball to Luke Robbins and Robbins hit into a double play.
