The Chicago White Sox got a great start from 34-year-old right-hander Ricky Salas, as Chicago won the contest, 9-3, at Rogers Centre. Salas threw 8.1 innings allowing 3 runs in the win, which allowed the Chicago to grab a 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series.

Chicago relied on the hitting of Marvin McAleer to pick up the win. The right fielder clubbed a 3-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the White Sox on top, 3-0. For the game, McAleer had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.

"The first game of a series is kind of a tone-setter, right?" McAleer said later. "After tonight, I hope so."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Rogers Centre in Toronto.
