Ohmer Blasts Blue Jays, Expos Take Game 1, 10-8
|
With right fielder Austin Ohmer leading the charge, the Montreal Expos got a road win over the Toronto Blue Jays, 10-8, in Game 1 of the Division Series today. Ohmer hit 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice at Rogers Centre to help Montreal take a 1-0 lead in the best-of-5 series.
Steve French, who finished 4th in the AL in hits with 171 in 2049, chipped in for Montreal with a 3-run home run in the top of the seventh. For the game, the designated hitter had 2 hits in 5 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 3 runs batted in.
"You never want to start a series with a loss, but I saw a lot of good things today," Blue Jays manager Max Meany said. "I'm not worrying. Yet."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Rogers Centre in Toronto.
