Everything was working for Jose Rodas today at Ron Tonklin Field. He had the perfect delivery. The ball was moving. The cutter was working.

In an unforgettable performance, the 21-year-old Rodas fanned 17 Emeralds and sparked the Hillsboro Hops to a 21-0 victory over Eugene. He left Emeralds hitters mumbling and muttering at the plate. And when he needed a strikeout, he got it.

"I don't know if there are many times that I've seen him throw better," said Hillsboro manager Brian Morrison. "His location and command were really something."

In addition to collecting 17 strikeouts over 6.2 innings, Rodas allowed 2 hits and 2 walks in a superlative outing.

"I thought I'd make it easy on the guys today," Rodas said with a smile.

On the season Rodas has delivered 0 saves in no relief appearances. He has 280 strikeouts in 191.2 innings with a 2.54 ERA and a 18-4 mark.
