Grant, on Top of His Game, Beats University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, 10-0

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Tar Heels had no answer today for Fresno State University Bulldogs pitcher David Grant. They failed to score a single run against him, losing 10-0. University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill managed only 4 hits off Grant, who had 8 strikeouts.
The extraordinarily popular Grant got a standing ovation from the hometown crowd as he left the field, the applause continuing until he returned from the dugout to tip his cap to the crowd.
"Bulldogs fans are the best fans, in my opinion," he said. "It's a great feeling to throw a shutout under any circumstances but to do it with the crowd behind you like that is just incredible."
So far in 23 appearances this season, Grant has recorded 10 wins and sustained 6 losses. He has pitched 139 innings, yielded 103 hits, fanned 141 and has a 2.72 ERA.
