					| Athletics Collect 6-3 Win Over White Sox |
					| Chicago got a valiant performance from pitcher Xenophon Valvis, but it wasn't enough to beat the Oakland Athletics. Oakland won the game, 6-3. Valvis threw 8.0 innings of shutout ball for the losing team. The win elevated the Athletics to 40-35.
Oakland needed the clutch hitting of Bob Branham to notch the win. The first baseman hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the 11th inning to put the Athletics on top, 5-3. For the game, Branham had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.

"We'll pop the top on a cold beverage and get back to work tomorrow," Branham said.
