The Colorado Rockies beat the Chicago Cubs, 5-4, at Wrigley Field. The Rockies got a fine performance from second baseman Shawn Morrison, who was 4 for 4 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles. Colorado reliever Bill Ogren got the win, raising his record to 2-1. Unkei Wakamatsu was tagged with the loss. With the win, Colorado raised its record to 36-35.

Morrison had a game-changing home run in the top of the ninth. On a first pitch changeup from Unkei Wakamatsu, he banged a solo home run to left-center, giving the Rockies a 5-4 lead. It was the 16th home run of the year for Morrison.

"We'll put that win in the can," said Morrison, "and go after the next one."
