Yamaguchi Socks It to Cubs, Cracks 5 Hits
After a 5-hit effort to lead San Francisco (APP)'s 29-1 victory over the Chicago (APP) Cubs, second baseman Tsugio Yamaguchi told BNN beat writers it had been "a special day."

"It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is nice," he said. "Three or four is better, but five or more is out of sight. And to do that at the Appalachian League-level is really something special."

The 21-year-old player earned his accolades today at Rawling Foundation Complex with a spectacular 5-for-5 game against the Cubs.

"His swing is getting there," said Giants skipper Patrick Scoggin, who spoke glowingly of Yamaguchi after the game. "We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Tsugio did that to perfection today."

Tsugio Yamaguchi singled in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Mike Reusch in the 2nd, hit a three-run double in the 3rd, hit a two-run double in the 4th, walked in the 5th, hit an RBI double in the 6th and walked in the 7th.

This year Yamaguchi is batting .418 with 16 home runs.
