The Montreal Expos trumped the Miami Marlins, 8-2, at Quebecor Stadium. Montreal first baseman Steve French was terrific. He belted 2 home runs, while adding 6 RBI and scoring twice. Picking up the win was Brian White. He went 7.1 innings, allowing 2 runs on 4 hits. The left--hander struck out 6 and walked 1. Kyle Schlosschlonghair recorded the save, his 1st.

Montreal took a 8-2 lead on French's 13th home run of the season. The grand slam home run, which he hit off Pharamond Lestrange in the bottom of the eighth, propelled Montreal to the win.

"I just tried to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said French.

The win makes Montreal 41-28.
