		| Who Says Nobody's Perfect? |
		| So rare that it is more a figment of the imagination than an actual possibility for a professional ballplayer, the near-mythical perfect game became reality for Phil McLaughlin today.
The Cincinnati (NYP) Reds right-hander dominated the Eugene Emeralds at Baseball City Complex, securing the 4-0 Reds victory and a place for himself in the history books.

"As a kid I imagined pitching a perfect game, but it was only a fairy tale -- I didn't really ever expect to pitch one," McLaughlin said later, sitting in the clubhouse with a crowd of reporters. "I don't want to demean it, but I've lost games where I had better stuff than I had today. It all just fell into place in this one."

The 18-year-old McLaughlin retired all 27 Emeralds batters in a row. He surrendered no hits, walked none, struck out 20 and permitted no one to get on base.

This season McLaughlin has compiled a 5-2 mark with a 2.54 ERA.
