Rockies Lose By a Run at Miami, 2-1
|
The Miami Marlins did just enough to sneak past the Colorado Rockies, 2-1, at Marlins Park. Miami pitcher Sean Geer, in particular, had a standout performance. Miami reliever Adam Thomas got the win, raising his record to 2-0. Mike Nimmo was tagged with the loss. Oscar Banda picked up the save, his 11th.
Had Jimmy Groseclose not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Groseclose hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Marlins.
"It's nice to come out on top today," said Groseclose.
Miami goes to 21-26, Colorado to 26-20.
