					| Turner Field hosted a real pitchers' duel.
In a low-scoring affair between the Atlanta Braves and the Philadelphia Phillies, pitcher Scott Bernstein was the difference between victory and defeat. Yasuhide Kasahara, the Atlanta shortstop, contributed a run-scoring single in the bottom of the second inning to make the score 2-1, Braves. For the game, Kasahara was 2 for 3 with 2 singles and 2 walks.

"This was a tough loss," said Philadelphia manager Paul Husch. "It'll stick in my craw for a while."
