University of Miami Hurricanes starter Robin Kay said he was standing behind the mound when the scoreboard caught his eye, confirming what he already knew: He was one out from a no-hitter. For a couple of seconds, he didn't move.

"I took a breath and told myself 'This is the last one,'" Kay recalled.

The right-hander collected himself, got the final out, and finished one of the greatest performances of his career.

The University of Miami right-hander no-hit the University of Maine Black Bears 3-0 at Mark Light Field at Alex Rodriguez Park, finishing with 6 walks and 14 strikeouts, facing only 32 batters.

"I knew for a while it was a no-hitter," Kay admitted later. "But I really didn't worry about it until the last out. I thought I just wanted to win the game, and then I realized I wanted the no-hitter, too."

This year Kay has a 3-1 record and a 1.95 ERA.
