State College Sweeps into the Conference Championship Thursday, October 8th , 2048 Many baseball pundits expected a close series in the National League Divisional Championship. It turned out quite a bit different. The State College Spikes swept aside the Auburn Doubledays to advance to the Conference Championship, winning the final game by a 8-3 score at Falcon Park. The series MVP was left fielder Pablo Nunez, who hit .286 with a .444 on-base percentage. He had 2 home runs, drove in 5 RBI and scored 5 runs. "We expected this series to go right down to the wire, so to sweep is a bit of a surprise," he said. "But we'll take it." The Conference Championship matchups and schedule will be announced after the Divisional Championship finishes. |
