RF Smith Receives 4-Game Suspension Thursday, July 9th , 2048 Following an intense confrontation with the home plate umpire in which he was ejected, ValleyCats right fielder Erik Smith was suspended 4 games by the league. Smith had to be physically restrained by his manager and appeared to make a few threats toward the umpire. He was upset by a called third strike in a game with Spokane at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium. Smith could not be reached for comment on the suspension. This year Smith is batting .191 with 8 home runs and 30 RBIs. In 75 games he has scored 31 times. |
