Goodlow Hurls 6-0 Masterpiece Friday, June 26th , 2048 Nick Goodlow of the Tri-City Dust Devils was on top of his game today. The 26-year-old tantalized the Brooklyn Cyclones with crisp curves and changeups, mixed in with just enough fastballs to keep the batters honest and came away with a 6-0 shutout. "He had the changeup working," Brooklyn manager Rainer Florez said in postgame comments. "You knew it was coming and you still grounded out -- and then he threw it even slower." The Tri-City hurler had 3 strikeouts, gave up 1 walk and surrendered 2 hits in his complete-game effort. Goodlow told reporters after the game that "keeping the ball down is the key to being successful in this league." "If you don't do that, they'll make you pay," he said. On the season Goodlow has compiled a 7-3 mark with a 3.40 ERA in 15 starts. In pitching 84.2 innings he has 80 strikeouts and 27 walks while limiting the opposition to a .203 batting average. |
