Herkko Haavikko Captures AL Award Monday, September 14th , 2048 23-year-old Herkko Haavikko made a few Kannapolis headlines during this past week as the rookie right fielder proved he could compete at the plate with his high-school idols. He captured the attention of fans, journalists and American League officials last week and today took home Player of the Week honors for his effort. He cracked 8 hits in 16 at-bats to put up a .500 average. Haavikko collected 2 home runs, 5 RBIs and scored 4 runs. For the year Haavikko has hit .230 with 13 home runs, 38 RBIs and scored 37 runs. |
