White Sox Lose Late, 5-3
|
Houston starter Mat Pear had a strong outing against the Chicago White Sox at U.S. Cellular Field. The left-hander was a big part of his team's 5-3 win. The winning pitcher was Pear, now 2-0. He tossed 7.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 0 and fanning 5. John Mathis closed the game out for Houston, earning his 2nd save.
Houston used the clutch hitting of Bryce Hill to capture the win. The pinch hitter drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Astros ahead, 5-3. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a big one.
"It was a good effort all around," said Pear.
Houston now has a record of 14-13.
