The Seattle Mariners wiggled past the Houston Astros, 4-3, at Safeco Field. The win was highlighted by the performance of Seattle pitcher Aidan Smith. Seattle reliever Kyle Ridgeway picked up the win, raising his record to 2-0. Brian Thomas was tagged with the loss. Every game is important, even these early ones, if the Mariners hope to make a postseason run.
The Mariners procured the win, in large part because of right fielder Dae-ik Yoon. In the bottom of the tenth, he produced the game-winning run-scoring single.
"Our team showed some spunk," said Smith.
