Toronto right-hander Tony Rios pitched his team to victory over the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park. The final score was 2-0. Zach Ault locked down his 2nd save. The loss drops Boston to 15-7.

The Red Sox had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Blue Jays going into the top of the second inning. That changed quickly when the 22-year old catcher Brock Van Gilder came to the plate. Van Gilder hit a 2-run home run on a full count fastball from Boston hurler Reece Nichols. It was Van Gilder's 4th home run of the year.
