Texas right-hander Kevin Ovens-Toots pitched his team to victory over the Montreal Expos at Quebecor Stadium. The final score was 4-3. Ovens-Toots, now 10-14, was the winner. In 6.2 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 6, walking 3, and allowing 2 runs. The win puts the Rangers at 83-78, while the Expos drop to 100-61.

Texas used the timely hitting of John Giesbrecht to capture the win. The second baseman socked a 3-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Rangers ahead, 3-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.
