Cincinnati Tags Pittsburgh with 6-5 Defeat
|
Cincinnati first baseman Chris Grunwald picked up 4 ribbies while helping his team beat back the Pittsburgh Pirates, 6-5. Matt Flink snagged the win in relief. In 2.1 innings, the right-hander allowed no runs on no hits. He's now 4-1 on the season. The first-place Reds have a one-game lead in their division.
Grunwald had a timely hit for Cincinnati in the top of the seventh. With Pittsburgh trailing 5-2, he turned a 0-2 slider into a grand slam home run. It was his 33rd home run of the season, making it 6-5, Cincinnati.
"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Cincinnati manager Jimmy Silveira II.
