					| The home crowd had a good time watching the Pittsburgh Pirates and New York Mets get after it. 
 The New York Mets faced a tough opponent in Pittsburgh pitcher Dave Spriggs, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Citi Field by a final score of 7-3. Spriggs went 5.2 innings and allowed 1 run. The Mets saw their record improve to 69-68.
 
 Pete Barutha took Tim Wichman deep in the bottom of the seventh. His 3-run  home run put the Mets on top, 6-3. In all, Barutha had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 5.
 
 "We'll kick back tonight, then get set for the next one," Barutha said.
