					| Kansas City Royals starter Chris Irvin had all his pitches working at Fenway Park. His stellar performance paved the way for an easy 8-2 Kansas City win over the Boston Red Sox.  Irvin, now 12-7, was the winner. In 8.1 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 7, walking 3, and allowing 2 runs. Kansas City has run its win streak to 4 in a row. 
 Early in the game, left fielder Gil Switzer had a 2-run  home run for Kansas City. It was his 15th home run of the season and put the Royals on top, 2-0.
