					| Sutton Stars for Cardinals in 9-5 Win |
					| St. Louis and Pittsburgh got after it at Busch Stadium.
In the 9-5 St. Louis win over Pittsburgh, the impact of Pat Sutton was substantial. Sutton, who finished 5th in the NL in home runs with 37 last year, was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 5. Ray Scifo nailed down his 10th save.

With St. Louis leading 1-0 in the bottom of the second, Sutton hit a 2-run single off Pittsburgh hurler Dave Spriggs. It was the 109th hit of the season for Sutton and put his team ahead, 3-0.

"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Sutton told the St. Louis Chronicle.

With the win over Pittsburgh, the Cardinals improved to 71-61.
