The Detroit Tigers took Cleveland pitcher Ben Sedlacek's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Progressive Field. The final score had Detroit getting past the Guardians, 1-0. Sedlacek went 7.1 innings and allowed no runs, striking out 8. Bobby Wright snagged the win in relief. In 2 innings, the right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit. He's now 5-8 on the season. The Tigers go to 47-76 with the win.
Detroit used the clutch hitting of Conrad Taylor to capture the win. The designated hitter drilled a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Tigers ahead, 1-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Taylor said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
